2018 was a bit of a weird one. G and I had just got married, I was invited to a thing in Europe off the back of my own hard-won experience and knowledge, I got named as one of the next SmallBiz100 cohort and I was offered a digital transformation project that had nothing to do with bid writing.
Things were looking up. Opportunity had come knocking. LOUDLY.
And then, for a variety of reasons, I bottled it.
I think I thought I had more time to take advantage of it all. I think I felt unprepared and wanted to test the waters a bit. I had also recently acquired a second head injury and the menopause was doing its best to destroy what little ability to focus remained.
I’m not sure I could have done things any other way.
But regardless, the end result was the same:
I bottled it.

By 2020, I was in a tailspin. I was honestly relieved when I had to shut my business down. Can’t fail if you can’t work, right?
Anyway, it is now 2025. Those opportunities are long gone but I have been busy creating some more. Finding and opening doors, even if the only sound I can hear is the wind of change whistling through the keyhole.
I have a plan.
I have the skills.
And all I need to do now is keep telling myself:
DON’T. BOTTLE. IT.
